Examination demos
The Medical Council of Canada offers free online demonstrations of its examinations. These demonstrations can help familiarize candidates with examination formats, question types and navigation issues. The demonstrations for each examination can be accessed below.
Medical Council of Canada Evaluating Examination (MCCEE)
- The demonstration for the MCCEE offers screenshots of the computer-based examination, instructions on how to navigate through the examination and its features, and includes 10 sample questions. This sample test can be accessed here.
Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination Part I (MCCQE Part I)
- The MCCQE Part I consists of two components: a multiple-choice component and a clinical decision-making component. This demonstration gives candidates the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the type and style of questions tested on the MCCQE Part I. Twenty-eight sample questions are offered for the multiple-choice component. For the clinical decision-making component, six cases are provided and followed by one or more questions.
You can also view the instructional videos for the multiple-choice component and for the clinical decision making component to become familiar with the examination interface and functionality.
Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination Part II (MCCQE Part II)
- The format of the MCCQE Part II is unique from the MCCEE and MCCQE Part I because it is not a computer-based examination. Instead, it involves candidates going through clinical stations where a brief written statement introduces a clinical problem and directs the candidate to appropriately examine a standardized (simulated) patient as well as perform activities such as obtaining a focused history, conducting a focused physical examination, or assessing and addressing the patient’s issues. Candidates receive a detailed orientation of the process on the day of the examination, which can be previewed here.
