Requirements for submitting your final medical diploma

If not previously submitted to the MCC, you must submit a certified true copy of your original final medical diploma (used for framing and wall-hanging purposes) in the original language, accompanied by a translation in English or French if the diploma is in any other language.

The medical qualification diploma must attest that you have graduated in medicine from an MCC-recognized medical school. The year of graduation should reflect all requirements completed for the degree awarded. The diploma year reflects the year the diploma was issued and confirms completion of all requirements, including any compulsory training or service that is required to receive the diploma.

Please be aware of the following requirements for submitting your final diploma to the MCC:

  • The diploma must be copied on white, 216 mm by 279 mm (8 ½ inch by 11 inch) paper.

  • The photocopy must include all text, signatures, seals, borders, etc. that appear on the original (please ensure no text, dates, signatures, etc. are cut off at time of copying).

  • Any text, stamps, seals, or signatures on the back of the original diploma must also appear on the back of the photocopy.

  • If the university issues diplomas in English or French as well as the original language, certified copies of both should be submitted. In all cases, the original language document is required.

  • Any translation issued by the medical school must be on official letterhead paper in order to be accepted as a translation. If not submitting the original translation, the copy must be properly certified.

  • If a diploma does not state the name of the medical school, it must be accompanied by a certified copy of the graduation certificate, internship certificate, provisional certificate or full final medical school transcript issued by the medical school and clearly identifying the name of the medical school.

  • If you are aware that the name of the university or medical school has changed since your graduation and issuing of the diploma, please ensure that you provide a note to this effect (specifying the current university or school name) with your application.

  • All pages must be certified and translated precisely according to MCC requirements (see the Application Steps for certification and translation procedures).

The MCC will send the diploma for source verification.

The MCC is authorized to consult with other educational and licensing/regulatory authorities as necessary.
