The National Assessment Collaboration (NAC) detected a data transmission issue affecting some of the candidates who took the NAC Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) on August 18, 2011 in Toronto. As a result, five candidates who were issued a fail standing when the results were released in September will now receive a pass standing. In addition, there are 50 candidates who have had their Statement of Results and supplemental feedback reports modified to reflect a slight score increase (by one or two points), even though there is no change in their standing.
No candidate scores have been reduced nor has any candidate had a pass standing revoked.
We have personally notified all affected candidates and will send them a revised Statement of Results and supplemental feedback report by courier on Nov. 14, 2011, and the updated data will be available to the Canadian Resident Matching Service (CaRMS) prior to the application review period of the first iteration of the CaRMS R-1 Match.
We have conducted additional verification of all August 2011 NAC OSCE candidates’ results to ensure that this was an isolated incident and that all results are accurate. If you are a candidate who took the NAC OSCE on August 18 and you have not received an email or a revised Statement of Results and supplemental feedback report by courier, your scores and standing on the examination remain unchanged.
We will conduct an in-depth investigation into the circumstances surrounding this matter and will provide a full account to the National Assessment Central Coordinating Committee.
We deeply regret this incident and any stress it may have caused. If you are an August 2011 NAC OSCE candidate and have a question about your results on the examination, we encourage you to first check your email account for any communications from us. If, after doing so, you have further inquiries, please contact us at 613-520-2240 or by email at MCC_Admin@mcc.ca.
